Hi everyone,

I just joined the forum so how do you do! *curtseys*

I am hoping that someone can give me advice about sourcing fruit in Kent/South East London. I have contacted numerous wholesalers who won't supply to me because I am not a business and I don't feel comfortable lying. The one that did supply me wasn't good enough quality (I am talking stuff that never ripens.) I am on a budget so mostly Organic and expensive stuff is ruled out for the moment.

Obviously bananas are cheap but most of them in my local area do not ripen properly and are therefore inedible, they only shop that sells good ones (that I have found) will not deliver and I don't drive. I just can't keep up with my food supply carrying it on the bus, this has got to stop, I am at my wits end and I cannot fall back onto cooked food because it makes me ill. I am exhausted because my health is poor and this is creating extra stress in my life.

I have found a local fruit and veg box scheme that I am going to try, they also sell bananas but I will see if they are edible, although I think this will set me up for veggies and some local fruits. However, I still need a calorie staple. The supermarkets bananas are inedible and the juicy fruit is also either inedible or too expensive to buy enough of it.

Does anyone know from where I can get bananas delivered to my area, ones that actually ripen? plus juicy fruits? again with the juicies- nothing ever flippin' ripens. :cry

As you can see I am feeling frustrated and have researched into many possible sources, so I would really appreciate some help. I am working on creating a mindset of abundance and I am sure that things will fall into place soon and then I will be... :B_linedance: ... in fact, I shall do the dance now to demonstrate my faith that it is manifesting in my reality.

Thank you! :)

Hi!
I'm not in the UK so have no idea about your specific situation but I believe there's quite a few places where it can be a challenge and for us here in Texas we had the same issue regarding fruit delivery from business to business, but we manage to convince them to deliver to us anyway.
It could 3 or 4 times of them saying: "we can't deliver to you, you're not a business" before they finally accepted and don't ask anything anymore :-)
I'm sure you will soon find a way.

Where I lived previously I was also without a car and I got the local fruit store (a really small one at that) to deliver me cases of bananas they would get specially for me from the market when I asked :-)

When there's a will, there's a way!
And I'm sure your little dance helped :B_dance:

Hi Jerome,

It's great to hear that you made it work for you using determination.

That sounds like a good idea for places where there is a lot for decent fruit around, but because there is so much dodgy fruit here I need to be able to tell them if there's a problem. Because I only buy for one person, my orders pale in comparison to how much money they make from big business orders so my being so specific in my requests will probably seem like too much trouble for them, as it was with the last one that I tried. I want to be treated as an equal customer and I don't see this happening if I have to convince them to serve me.

Maybe I will hallucinate the answer as a side effect of eating under ripe fruit ;-)

Tried a local fruit n veg box scheme who would also have supplied me wholesale- fruit was poor quality.

Tried Abel and Cole, (although they don't sell wholesale), not all of the fruit ripens, however the staff are very helpful.

Keep trying to get an order from Riverford wholesale department, have called them multiple times but they said they need to find out if the local delivery man for my area can transport the wholesale produce. They said they will contact me.

Tried Foodari... my order didn't meet the minimum amount.

GOOD NEWS... I found a local veg box/groceries etc delivery service/shop that can supply wholesale and who ACTUALLY KNEW WHAT I WAS TALKING ABOUT WHEN I MENTIONED THAT I WANT BANANAS THAT RIPEN FULLY. So I shall be receiving my first order next week.

And for now there are watermelons on sale in Lydl and delightfully nice smelling peaches in the Turkish supermarket that I shall try...

My banana dance clearly worked. I HAVE to be fully raw... my body is very clear in it's message. I have been eating potatoes in the evening to make up the calories and my thyroid gland has been feeling more and more swollen. I WILL BE HEALTHY!!!!! IT IS MY BIRTHRIGHT AND I WILL NOT SETTLE FOR ANYTHING LESS... IT IS WHO I AM. I find that when I am struggling with things that seem like a circumstantial problem, when I increase my internal standards... the outer circumstance fall into place. @>->--

Sounds Great Angel Swan :D
Sometimes we have to look for things longer than others or than in other circumstances depending on where we are but when there's a will, there's a way!
Enjoy the process!

Very true Jerome :)

For anyone who is in the London area... Brixton market has ripe cheap fruit... I discovered it the other day... WAHOO. They have sweet juicy mangoes, squidgy sugary persimmons and even fresh coconuts! first time I ever saw one in real life and drank the water today :)
