Hey all!
My name is Jason and I've been a veggie-head for approximately 1/3 of my life (I'm 42 now). I discovered the 811 way of life 4 days ago as I was surfing Youtube and stumbled upon "Mimi Kirk - sexiest vegetarian" and just HAD TO take a peek (I'm a bachelor, after all lol). That video inspired me to start researching raw vegan diets. After a few fits (because there's a lot of cracked pots out there) and starts (I'm stubborn) I discovered Dr. D and his revolutionary book.
My curiosity won out at that point and I spent all day in the bookstores; unfortunately, I couldn't find it at any of the usual spots! I'm not saying that shocks me, I'm just saying...wait....I'd better stay in the shallow end of the pool

. ANY how, somewhere around noon I started up on the used book trail; I should tell you, I spend more than a fair amount of time in the used bookstores...bibliophiles are us, right?
Spending a day in my favourite places usually gives me an inner glow of well-being. No such luck that day; your book must be well loved because it was nowhere to be seen! Here's where I have to apologize profusely. In a fit of frustration I swiped it (I won't say how, but there it is). I give you my most heart-felt promise that as soon as work picks up I will purchase at least 2 hard copies, but I had to have it and there was no other immediate avenue. Can you ever forgive me? Please?
On to the happy part of the post!
I'm sure you saw my online name? Well I have to say, there is no other that fits me better

. At the present I work with a moving company that does mostly residential moves for some fairly well-off customers; consequently, I move a massive amount of furniture that feels more like gold when you get it up in the air. I've always been able to lift and carry more than the rest of the crew with more speed and endurance than they think is normal. I've also always maintained that my abilities come from my diet, but now I'm absolutely positive!
Yesterday I made a wager with one of the guys while we were in our storage facility; he said there was no way I could pick up a full size memory-foam (the heaviest mattress known to man lol) hide-a-bed sofa by myself and carry it up 2 full flights of stairs. Just to make things more difficult, we only have one flight, so it turned out to be one flight up, then down, then up again. The bet was a 12-pack of beer, so I ended up losing out anyhow (drinking hasn't been my thing for a loooong time). I accredit all my bragging rights to you Dr. D!
The Last (And Best) 4 Days
I started my 811 the same way I started my vegetarian journey; I dived in and never took a step in the wrong direction. Since this Monday past I have been eating nothing but fruit and veggies. Here's what I did and how it made me feel over that time period:
Day 15 fairly large oranges for breakfast
1/2 lb of strawberries for a snack 2-3 hours later
6 bananas for a late lunch
1 big English Cucumber and 1/2 a head of romaine lettuce for supper
2 small zucchinis for a snack
I had a hard time stuffing those bananas down the hole, let me tell you! I thought that was a lot of food but my energy level dropped, my head spaced out and my eyes were a bit wonky (not exactly blur vision, but pretty close). All in all, not quite as pleasant as I'd hoped for. Oh well, tomorrow was another day.
Day 26 fairly large oranges for breakfast
1 lb of strawberries for a snack 2-3 hours later
9 bananas for lunch
1 head of chopped romaine with 2 tomatoes and a whack of parsley
4 small zucchinis for a snack
That day was top-notch except for the parsley;
DO. NOT. EAT. PARSLEY!
. I handle pain well (thank God) but I'm not particularly fond of it! At that point I sat down to read the rest of Dr. Grahams book; when I got to the section that explains herbs I doubled over in laughter as well as pain! One more thing...I can't make it through a whole smoke (nasty habit, but I'm working on it)!
Day 31 lb of strawberries for breakfast
7 fairly large oranges for 2nd breakfast
10 (11?) bananas for lunch
1 head of chopped romaine with 2 tomatoes and 3 small zucchinis for supper
1/3 of a head of romaine for a snack
This was my couch-lift day; needless to say, I felt phenomenal! Now if I can just fit more of the same into my stomach I'll be ready for a full day's work. Oh, and I haven't smoked all day! I'm not sure if this is a silver lining in a silver cloud, but I like it! Every time I light up I start to get dragged out and end up putting it out less than half way through. Good sign? I think so!
Day 48 fairly large oranges for breakfast
1 lb of strawberries for a snack
11 bananas for lunch
I feel as good or better than I did yesterday heehee haha hoho!
I'M HOOKED!I just reread my post and realized it sounds almost unbelievable; for the record, I've had a relatively easy transition because #1, the only dairy I have touched in the last 10 years is a bit of goat feta once a week, if that, and honey for my coffee (yes, I dropped that too) and #2, I'm a bachelor who doesn't like to cook so I raid the fridge for the crunchy munchies all the time. On top of that, I hate fast food with a passion. *puke*!
Oops! I went overboard on the words again.
Gotta go,
Gotta run!
To find a bike,
And have some fun!
P.S. I have one question; Is under-ripe fruit going to hurt all that much? I know starch isn't all that good for me but ripe fruit is hard to come by right now.
