Dried dates, as sold in plastic wrapping in stores, is usually treated with preservatives to keep them from going bad. They are frequently dried at a temperature that would lead them to no longer be raw.
If you know they're raw, and have not been treated with sulfur dioxide or the like, then a nice way to reduce the damage they can have upon your teeth is soaking them in water overnight, and then blending them. You can vary the concentration of the date-blend to suit your needs and preference. I enjoy a thick date sauce, with leafy greens or cucumbers to go along with it.
