Washington State

People have loved Health and Fitness Week since it began in 1996, and every year we deliver on our promise to make it better than the year before.

In 2013, in addition to the facets of Health and Fitness Week you all know and love, we have incorporated a focus on strength practices. And so, for the first time ever, we are bringing you Strength Health and Fitness Week!

The basic structure of Health and Fitness Week will be quite familiar to all of our returning alums, and the lectures and fitness classes have been refined and focused on strength practices.

The event will deepen your knowledge of fitness and nutrition, immerse you in the wealth of skills and experience of our multi-talented and specialized staff, and fast-track your path to being the best you can be.

With the addition of strength, we now truly offer a complete health and fitness program. The immersion experience of this program empowers and inspires attendees with education and motivation to make the changes required to thrive in their health and fitness pursuits.

Whether you are experienced in acrobatic practices, a beginner, or simply looking to increase your enjoyment (and results) in your health and fitness endeavors, this life-changing event is not to be missed.

In addition, you get all of the following great features that make Health and Fitness Week something truly special!

What will you get?

  • A supportive community, regardless of your age or ability level, to help you achieve your personal goals.
  • Personalized training in small groups to meet your needs.
  • 100% organic fruits and vegetables served at each meal.
  • Food for your travels homeward.
  • Massage from your choice of three therapists.
  • B&B-style accommodations, with one roommate.
  • Two lectures daily in nutrition and fitness theory. See schedule below.
  • Family and friends to support your raw fitness journey for a lifetime.

Our Food

Chef Alicia OjedaDuring this week we serve only in-season organic produce. Several of the local farms in the area also provide us with a variety of seasonal organic fruits. Breakfast and lunch will display the season's finest fruits and greens. Dinner is always a surprise, as Health and Fitness Week's head chef fulfills his or her commitment to making each meal more amazing than the last.

Alicia Ojeda is a classically trained chef with a breadth and depth of professional experience rarely encountered in the arena of healthful living. Passionate about food and playful about the process, Chef Alicia makes the art of creating delicious, life-giving cuisine a joyful experience. Motivated by her own 40-pound (and counting) weight loss and her newfound ability to sustain her energy all day long, she now leads others in redefining their relationship with food. From her enthusiastic and informative culinary classes to her recipe books, DVD training kit, professional business consultations, and home kitchen set-ups, she educates new and experienced healthy eaters in how to enrich their love affair with health-producing raw living foods.

Currently, Chef Alicia is a staff instructor at The Natural Epicurean Academy of Culinary Arts in Austin, Texas. She also co-teaches culinary skills for the annual FoodnSport summer event series, serves as executive chef for Le Fruit Restaurant at the Woodstock Fruit Festival, and offers private chef services and instruction.

Highlights of Chef Alicia's illustrious culinary career include: head chef of Beets Café (Austin's premier vegan living foods café); R&D/production coordinator of Roxanne's Fine Cuisine; executive chef & instructor of Living Light Culinary Arts Institute; executive chef of Dream Works Studio; and chef manager of Sony Music.

Doug

Dr. Doug Graham

Founder of FoodnSport, creator of Health and Fitness Week, and author of The 80/10/10 Diet, Dr. Graham brings to Health and Fitness Week four decades of direct experience in the field.

Dr. Graham understands movement as well as he understands the human body. A former competitive trampolinist and coach of seven national champions, Dr. Graham spent twenty years in private practice as a chiropractor. His undergraduate training in health and physical education combine with his chiropractic degree and his sports experience to give him a unique vantagepoint in the world of human performance.

Dr. Graham is trained as a teacher and professional speaker, and he has been lecturing at health, fitness, and raw food events for more than 30 years. He is known for his work with world-class athletes, such as Martina Navratilova (tennis), Pam Boteler (sprint canoe), Ronnie Grandison (basketball), Doug Dickinson (track), Callie Withers (soccer), Bruce Hamilton (bowling), and for his seminal book, Nutrition and Athletic Performance.

Coach Selby

Coach Selby, Owner of StretchExpert will be joining our team this year. He has been a dedicated athlete since 1968 and a health and fitnescoach for over 20 years. He is a true stand out in his field demonstrating a great understanding of the dynamics of sports stretching and how it relates to maximizing performance. His total body stretching routine based on the Active Isolated Stretching method is leading edge technology for the serious athlete.

Shari

Coach Selby is a fascinating person and a delight to work with. He graduated from the University of Miami and has a masters in spiritual psychology from the University of Santa Monica. Natural Hygiene came into his life at the very young age of 12, back in 1974.

“Sports Stretching is my main focus.  I got involved with it while I was attending University of Miami where I played Division I basketball.  I have explored Yoga, Pilates, Alexander Technique, Rolfing, Tai Chi, sports massage, Hanna Somatics and ultimately Active Isolated Stretching (AIS) in my search for ways to maintain and support the body for supreme athletic performance.

The skills I developed inside the clinical world of AIS have become central to how I take care of my body instrument.  Doing the daily full body routine
I created in combination with an alkaline lifestyle is a powerful recipe for any athlete who wants to perform well, recover fast and feel amazing.
Shari

I am excited to be a part of the Strength Health and Fitness week. It will be awesome to be with other people committed to a high level of health and fitness.”

Shari Leiterman

Shari has been a Raw Foods Coach, Educator, Speaker, Caterer, and a Specialized Presenter for over 20 years. She was Co-Manager of Club Hygiene a raw foods, fasting, and transitional lifestyle retreat, in Marathon, Florida with Dr. Graham. D.C.

She holds a B.S. in Exercise Physiology and B.A. Organizational Communications. She embodies fitness, a raw/vegan foods lifestyle and teaches a holistic approach for achieving your potential for health.

Our Family

Nothing can replace the feeling of sitting down with 40 other people who all believe in living well. The raw food lifestyle is often labeled as isolating, but at Health and Fitness Week isolation is the last thing you feel. We generate friendships that last a lifetime, and we foster an environment where real community can be developed. Our staff and attendees will keep in touch with you throughout the year, helping you to achieve your goals, and strengthen your resolve. Here, you will never feel more at home away from home. And when you leave you will never feel more connected. So come to Health and Fitness Week and join the family.
